Managing traffic is about managing logistics, about moving stuff from A to B. In YEMO Traffic digital assets are moved from A to B (or C and D), organizing processes like the production of ads or other creative productions such as flyers, posters, website banners, etc.
Similar to the analogy with logistics (shipping, transport) it is important in the traffic management of creative productions to manage the deliverables on basis of the following aspects:
- Progress: When are the peaks in ad production (rush hour)? Includes resource management.
- Budget: Is there an overview of the costs involved in particular time taking productions or large amount of productions?
- Quality: Are the productions made according to the creative (soft proofing) and technical (preflight) standards agreed?
- Authorizations: Did the studio manager, account representative or client agree with the design?
Thus in YEMO Traffic we are moving the stuff (assets) that is important for everybody working in the workflow from one station to the other, until the total production is ready. On top of that YEMO has implemented tools to make sure that quality is alright and that budgets can be checked and controlled. In addition we can make sure that no ad is sent to the advertiser without informing the sales representative.

Important is that the person managing the traffic has a good overview of the production status and potential hick-ups. In order to help him we have implemented:
- Dashboards to view the status of the traffic enabling the “Traffic Manager” to take measures.
- Personalized overview of tasks with their deadlines.
- Automatically generated reports.
- Time reporting (hours sheets).
The result is complete transparency.
And before we forget: asset management is an important part of this environment or workflow. In our applications we are literally moving around millions of assets, but instead of putting asset management on an island, we believe in a tight integration in the workflow. Thus a the managing, storing and retrieving assets we do in the workflow:
- Designer: assets are handed over together with the tasks.
- Traffic: on basis of particular parameters the workflow directly picks-up relevant assets.
- Things like image transformations can be done on basis of particular workflow definitions such as PDF workflow for ads, Flash movies, banner, brochures, etc.
